Smart forklift fleets are revolutionizing intralogistics: ForkOn x duisport
Milestone for innovation and efficiency in intralogistics: Following the successful completion of a pilot project between duisport and ForkOn, the collaboration is now being expanded to include fleet management for forklifts. ForkOn had already made a strong impression in 2019 with duisport’s subsidiary, startport.
Forklifts can be smart too:
The integration of ForkOn’s advanced telematics technology into 80 forklifts at the Port of Duisburg, spanning 13 industrial and contract logistics sites across Germany, marks a significant advancement in the digitalization of intralogistics processes.
The partnership with ForkOn highlights duisport’s commitment to manufacturer independence and the seamless integration of technologies into logistical operations.
duisport, one of Europe’s key logistics hubs and the world’s largest inland port, is renowned for its dedication to innovation and operational efficiency.
The initial encounter with ForkOn was made possible through the subsidiary startport.
The innovation platform for logistics startups successfully integrated ForkOn into its support program in 2019. Since then, ForkOn has established itself as a leading provider of manufacturer-independent fleet management for forklifts and AGVs.
The partnership not only ensures compliance with legal requirements for protection against unauthorized use and simplifies training and orientation monitoring, but also streamlines and digitizes the daily pre-operation inspections.
Another key factor in choosing ForkOn is its advanced sensor technology, which detects collision damage to equipment and goods, prompting immediate inspection by a supervisor to ensure a safe working environment for employees.
Alexander Garbar, Head of Corporate Development, Digitalization, and Strategy at duisport, emphasizes:
"The collaboration with ForkOn allows us to stay at the forefront of innovation and operational efficiency. We are committed to offering top-tier solutions that enhance our competitiveness and sustainability in our operations."

Jan Malte Wöhrle, Managing Director of the Industrial Logistics division at the Port of Duisburg, says:
„With ForkOn, we have found a partner capable of effectively mapping our complex business processes through its extensive range of options. For example, all interfaces can be displayed in multiple languages. The ForkOn hardware also meets our requirements very well and has been further developed in collaboration with ForkOn: even our internal warehouse management solutions run on ForkOn devices, allowing us to reduce the amount of hardware needed for our employees"
"We are excited to collaborate with duisport to develop tailored solutions that meet the company's specific requirements. Our smart telematics technology offers significant benefits for duisport in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability"
- Tim Klauke -
Alessandro Benassi, Managing Director of startport GmbH, adds:
„The collaboration between duisport and ForkOn highlights the crucial role startups play in addressing and solving existing challenges in the logistics industry. It demonstrates how new solutions can be seamlessly transitioned from the pilot phase to regular operations.“
